Trying to think of a verb – synopsised? I could say precised, but it’s that word synopsis that strikes fear into a novelist. Anyone (well almost anyone) can, sooner or later, put together 90,000 or so words – some people think nothing of producing many many more. But reducing that work of art to a one or two page summary that
a) sets out the plot
b) preserves any of the interest of the original
is generally acknowledged to be sheer hell.
Until today that is, when I have reduced (think cooking?) my skinny 80,000 worder to a pithy 322 blurb. I may post it here ere long. Before that I’ll removed plot-spoilers – wouldn’t want to dissuade any of you from buying it (LOL).
Now just have to tackle the meatier ‘full’ synopsis.
