  1. I agree completely on the matter of classical languages, Ali. I am really glad that Latin was still an essential part of the curriculum when I was at school. It certainly helped me in my studies of English grammar.

  2. Yes, and though I’d be hard pressed to tackle a page of Cicero or Homer now (I think I always was!) without the background a lot of things in art and literature just wouldn’t make much sense. In fact every now and then Latin has a bit of a revival in schools, which always cheers me up.
